Stronachie 10 year old A.D. Rattray
Stronachie was a Highland Distillery just across the Highland dividing line in Perthshire. Started in 1890, Stronachie was unfortunately closed down in 1923 and then subsequently demolished in 1928.
A.D. Rattray were the distributors for Stronachie back in the early 1900’s. Tim Morrison prior owner of Morrison Bowmore and 4th generation decendant of the A.D. Rattray founders was able to source one of only a few bottles of original Stronachie Single Malt in existence. The bottle in question dated 1904 was used to re-create the style and flavor profile of the Stronachie Single Malt as it was made over 100 years ago.
Sourced from Benrinnes in Speyside – Stronachie is made in small batches using a combination of Bourbon and Sherry casks.
Colour: tarnished gold
Nose: Sweet heather infused honey
Taste: Creamed honey leading into a little clove and nutmeg.
Finish: Very balanced deliciously sweet and spicy whisky that finishes with just the tiniest wisp of smoky peat
